Depending on your background and experience, carpenters aren’t necessarily required to go to school to learn the trade before getting a job. However, aspiring carpenters may choose to receive a formal education before entering the field to strengthen their skills and stand out to employers. While a high school diploma is required to be a carpenter, education beyond that is preferred. Beyond an education, an apprenticeship is recommended.
