NORCROSS, Ga. - The Ashworth College online Pharmacy Technician Career Diploma program was recently ranked No. 2 among the 10 best US-based online programs of its kind for 2018 by Pharmacy Technician Guide, an independent online guide edited by experts in the fields of education, career training, and pharm tech.
To determine the rankings, online pharmacy technician programs were evaluated for average tuition costs, graduation rates, student-to-faculty ratios, loan default rates, and percentage of enrolled students with federal loans, as well as the guide editors’ own assessments of each school’s student services, career counseling, reputation, and more. The data used in the analyses were collected from the National Center for Education Statistics (a part of the US Department of Education) and the schools themselves.
“I feel humbled to have this kind of third-party recognition, especially knowing the program will only continue to get better from here,” said Dr. Sherrie Moore, pharmacy technician program director. “The program is strong and it is an honor to be able to provide a pathway for students to pursue new learning experiences and prepare them for a successful career."
“Our partnerships with Walgreens and CVS/Health have been a great benefit to our Pharmacy Tech program,” said Dr. Christine Jax, chief academic officer. “These retailers are located across the country, so our students who do their externships with them get great experience applying what they learned in a real pharmacy while they’re getting a foot-in-the-door with a vast network of employment opportunities. It’s a win-win and I’m proud of our healthcare team for developing an educational program that prepares our students to excel throughout their careers.”
